Carlson’s Lovable Llamas, Food Truck and Bazaar at Trinity in Carver

Elizabeth Jander, local high school senior, PSEO student at Crown College and participant in the 4-H Llama project is working with her church, Trinity Lutheran Church in Carver, to provide a hands-on llama experience over Steamboat Days weekend. She recently volunteered at the Canterbury Race Track Llama Races and saw how much joy a little time with the llamas brought to families. Since Trinity has held a popular annual bazaar over Steamboat Days, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to pour a little llama love into Carver.

Carlson’s Lovable Llama’s will be on the lower lot at Trinity on Saturday, September 11 from 10:00 a.m – 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to this free event.

The bazaar will be held on:  Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Baked goods, canned goods, garden produce, plants, embroidered and sewed items, crafts, antiques, gifts, gently used books and household items will be offered.

A food truck will be parked in our lower lot. They will serve corn dogs, mini doughnuts, cheese curds, water, and cotton candy.

The Ice Rink Is Open!

The ice rink at Community Park is open and ready for skaters!

New this year, the City has also set up an additional leisure rink (no hockey) in the parking lot at Community Park, which is also open and ready for skaters!

Consistent with other Covid-19 precautions in the City, the warming house will not be available for use at this time.

We’re Getting Closer…But The Ice Rink Is Not Quite Ready Yet

The ice rink layers are forming and freezing!  Our staff has been flooding the ice rink late at night and early in the mornings in an effort to make the ice thicker.  The warmer temperatures during the day cause delays, but progress has been made.

Although it is not ready yet, we will continue to apply the layers and hope they freeze throughout the entire surface so that it can be opened.  Stay tuned…we will update you as soon as it opens.  Thank you for your patience as we navigate the warm weather.

We’re Working Hard To Open The Ice Rink . . . Unfortunately, It Is Not Ready Yet

Over the past three weeks, the Public Services staff has focused their efforts on creating sufficient ice to skate on, all while battling snow events and unseasonably warm temperatures.  Unfortunately, the ice rink has only a thin base of ice on it so it will not be ready to skate on today. This week’s temperatures, forecasted to be sunny and in the upper 30’s and low 40’s,  will further set back the opening of the rink for at least another week. Public Services staff will maintain their focus on creating ice for the rinks and provide weekly status updates.
