Eight days into the season, four games in, Southwest Christian softball is officially on a roll.

A classic pitchers’ duel for four innings, Eden Prairie plated five runs in the fifth inning, holding host Chaska to one hit in a 7-0 decision in the baseball season opener Tuesday at Athletic Park.

Among the top 10 programs in Class A for years, Holy Family Catholic is in a “re-tool” year according to Fire coach TJ Garin.

The City of Carver Public Services Department will begin its annual hydrant flushing in April and is expected to be completed by mid-May.  Hydrant flushing serves two purposes:

(1) To ensure proper operation and to purge stagnant water and natural minerals that may be deposited in the distribution system; and
(2) Hydrants identified as needing maintenance are repaired following the completion of flushing.

Residents are advised that the change in water flow patterns resulting from hydrant flushing may stir up mineral deposits in city water mains.   During hydrant flushing, it is not unusual for residents to periodically experience discolored water, pressure changes, and/or an increased chlorine odor.  Although safe for human consumption, if you experience discolored water you may correct the problem by opening all cold water faucets and allow them to run at the same time until the water clears.  For more information, please call the City Offices at 952-448-5353.

Chaska scored 24 runs, winning its first game of the season, a 24-6 victory over Waconia in the seventh-place game of the Mankato West Softball Invitational Saturday at Caswell Park.

Southwest Christian baseball won on back-to-back days, allowing four runs over 14 innings, in victories over St. Croix Prep (4-2) on Friday and Mound-Westonka (6-2) on Saturday.

Pet of the Week
