Many times, flooding along the Minnesota River can be predicted up to a week in advance, giving ample warning to prepare for a potential flood event. However, in the event of localized flooding due to a large rain event, plugged storm sewer drain, and storm ponds overflowing, the following tips will help protect you and your family in either type of flooding event:
For more information regarding flooding information and the National Flood Insurance Program, visit www.floodsmart.gov or www.cityofcarver.com.
The snow is here and with it comes ice and slippery walkways. Follow these tips to keep your driveways and sidewalks safe for your family and visitors. Click HERE to learn more. If you have questions, contact [email protected].
Project Overview
The City of Carver is making improvements to the storm water systems along Jonathan Carver Parkway (Area 1) and along Main Street to Riverside Park (Area 2).
Area 1
New storm sewer pipe will be installed along Jonathan Carver Parkway connecting two existing storm sewer systems. This connection is being constructed to accommodate the new development being built to the west of Jonathan Carver Parkway. Construction is anticipated to begin in December 2018 and will be completed in spring of 2019.
Area 2
Downtown area improvements will include making connections to existing mains along Main Street (near Riverside Park) and replacing an existing lift station at the entrance of Riverside Park. These improvements will help increase efficiency of the system during large rain events.
Traffic Impacts
During construction, minimal traffic impacts will occur. Short term spot lane or road closures may occur in specific areas as needed. Access to adjacent properties will be maintained to the extent practical and specific arrangements will be made for any short-term closures needed.

With the colder temperatures in the forecast, City staff will be flooding the ice rink to build a strong ice base getting ready for some winter fun. During this time we ask for your help and for the safety of all skaters, please stay off the ice rink while we work to build up a great ice surface. The City of Carver wants to make the Community Park rink an enjoyable experience for everyone. Once we have a good sheet of ice ready, we will post signs around the rink and on social media.
Remember, Check the City’s website for the announcement of when you can grab your skates and head to Community Park outdoor ice rink. The ice skating rink and warming house is open throughout the winter months and is available for public use during open hours –
Weekdays: 3:30pm-9:30pm and Weekends: 9:00am-9:30pm.

The City of Carver has many beautiful floodplain areas. The undisturbed river bottoms and creeks provide a wide range of benefits to the people and natural systems.
These areas provide breeding and feeding grounds for fish and wildlife, create an enhanced waterfowl habitat, and protect habitats for rare and endangered species. They provide open space and aesthetic pleasure in areas for active and passive users. They also provide flood storage and conveyance, and reduce flood velocities and flood peaks.
Although the City has a storm sewer and drainage maintenance program, it is impossible to keep all drainage systems clear at all times. As a citizen, you can assist by keeping the banks, ditches, and streams clear of brush and debris, and not allow grass clippings, oil, or other contaminants in the storm sewer inlets. Dumping of debris into ditches and streams is a major cause of local drainage problems, and is a violation of City of Carver regulations.
To report a violation or maintenance problem, please call the City at 952-448-5353.
CCYBSA has been busy working on programs for 2019. Registrations will be open on January 7th, 2019.
We will have a combination of In-house community programs and Travel programs in both, Softball and
Baseball and we will also have T-Ball.
We will have an Informational Night, January 3rd at Carver Place (113 3rd Street/Carver) for parents to
come and ask question as to where they can/should register their child.
If we have anyone in the community who would be interested in becoming a part of the CCYBSA

Greetings, fellow citizens of Carver. I’ve spent some time updating the site today.
Now days, I haven’t had as much time to spend here as I used to, and as a result I sometimes get behind on posting things, or on cleaning up spam. Lately, I’ve noticed the site filling up with celebrity gossip and national and international news. I’m sorry about that. I’ve cleaned up some of it, and I made some changes that will hopefully stop it.
Also, I fixed twitter integration! Follow Carver Current on twitter @ https://twitter.com/carvercurrent!
This site was started 8 years, 4 kids, and 3 jobs ago. It’s a labor of love, but I have a long time before I’ve caught up with Ricki who’s been writing Villager Tower since 1983! I won’t embarrass Ricki by mentioning my age in 1983 (hey, I _was_ alive at least)…
Hope all is well. I can be found at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments.

I am writing to honor a wonderful citizen, a dedicated volunteer and an outstanding educator – Fred Berg, or “Mr. Berg” as hundreds (likely even thousands) addressed him while they were students of his during his years of teaching in the Eastern Carver County School District. At least that’s how our children talked about him – with a “bit” of awe and deep respect because of how well he related to his students and shared his knowledge with them! Also holds true for those students who were fortunate enough to have participated in a sport that he helped coach. During many dinner table conversations, Mr. Berg’s name came up for something he did or said that “hit home!”
Fortunately for those of us who live in the Eastern Carver County School District, we still have Fred Berg – “Mr. Berg” – working diligently on behalf of our students. Now as a valued member of the School Board. His years of teaching, his understanding of what needs to be done to keep our schools strong and successful and his willingness to continue sharing his experiences are valuable assets to our communities. We have the opportunity to ensure that “Mr. Berg” will remain a member of the School Board and continue helping support the educational system as our students progress through their years in our schools.
Let me encourage you to help see that Fred Berg remains on the School Board; your vote for him on November 6th will be appreciated.
