Holy Family Catholic has developed into a top-10 Class AA boys hockey program in recent years, every now and then among the first five in the rankings.

Dominating 18 minutes of basketball, a 31-8 lead at halftime, allowed Southwest Christian girls basketball to avenge an earlier season loss, a 54-33 win over St. Croix Prep Feb. 17 in the third-place game of the MCAA Conference Tournament.

Some teams remained on the State Dance floor for a team photo. Some chanted thanks toward their cheering sections. Others hugged and cried. Some even kissed the floor.

Katey Brattland’s running finger roll off the glass in the final seconds likely locked up the No. 1 seed in Section 2-4A, a 53-52 win for Minnetonka Feb. 16 over Eden Prairie.

The Eden Prairie state champion football team celebrated at halftime, it was the boys basketball team that stole the show in a 75-49 win over Minnetonka Feb. 16.

Rescued after being abandoned with scores of other dogs, Penny is blossoming as she is experiencing being part of a foster family. She is house- and crate-trained and enjoys leash walks. This 2- to 3-year-old lab mix plays tug-o-war, door greets, likes petting, reaches up for attention, lean on you, and lays her head in your lap if she knows you. Penny enjoys dogs, hasn’t lived with cats or kids, and is initially hesitant of strangers. She’ll sleep with you if you let her. Penny wants a family that will continue to show her the world does have kind folks in it.

The Carver County Board of Commissioners plans to discuss and vote on moving a brush and yard waste removal site during its 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 meeting. The measure would move the site from the Carver County Environmental Center to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Victoria.
