A demonstration will take place at Chaska High School next week to protest gun violence. It’s an effort encouraging students to discuss the issue, following last month’s Parkland, Florida school shooting that killed 17 people.

At about the age of 20, these three men spent a year or so of their young lives serving in the Vietnam War.

Natalie Roth, a seventh-grade trumpet player from Pioneer Ridge Middle School, and Sydney Kirmeier, an eighth-grade flute player from Chaska Middle School West, have been selected for membership in the Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA) 6-8 Grade Honor Band for the 2017-18 school year.

We are starting to see some warmer temps and melting snow. It’s warm enough to go out and pick up that pet waste that might have been piling up.

Any piles of pet waste left on your lawn are subject to unsuspecting feet – or worse.

When left on the ground, pet waste doesn’t disappear; rain and snow-melt wash it off lawns and other surfaces and into storm drains which send it directly to lakes, rivers or ponds.

Pet waste contains A LOT of bacteria and parasites that are a health threat to people and wildlife. Plus the pet waste adds nutrients to the water, reducing oxygen available for aquatic life and leading to more algae.
