March 15, 1934: For the first time in its history Chaska is to be represented in the state high school declamatory contest by Miss Nora Schimelpfenig, student of Chaska high school. She goes into the state to compete with three other contestants in the humorous division. The event will take place on Wednesday of next week in Minneapolis.
What happened on this date in local history?
March 22, 1962: A four-piece teenage band under the leadership of an aspiring local musician made their TV debut last Thursday afternoon. John Bury’s Casualties made a guest appearance on the Arle Haberle “Around the Town” show on WCCO-TV. Local musicians participating were Bury, piano; Darrell Fasching, drums, and Katherine Sitar, vocalist, both seniors at Guardian Angels High School.
