Consumer Confidence Report 2017 Drinking Water Report

City of Carver
2017 Drinking Water Report

For a complete copy of the 2017 City of Carver Consumer Confidence Report, click HERE, stop by City Hall, or contact the City of Carver at 952-448-8728.
The City of Carver is issuing the results of monitoring done on its drinking water for the period from January 1 to December 31, 2017.  The purpose of this report is to advance consumers’ understanding of drinking water and heighten awareness of the need to protect precious water resources.
Source of Water
The City of Carver provides drinking water to its residents from a groundwater source:  four wells ranging from 470 to 738 feet deep, that draw water from the Mt. Simon, Tunnel City-Eau Claire, and Tunnel City-Wonewoc aquifers.
The Minnesota Department of Health has made a determination as to how vulnerable our systems’ source(s) of water may be to future contamination incidents.  If you wish to obtain the entire source water assessment regarding your drinking water, please call 651-201-4700 or 1-800-818-9318 (and press 5) during normal business hours.  Also, you can view it online at www.health.state.mn.us/divs/eh/water/swp/swa.

Riverside Park Closed

Due to flooding, Riverside Park will remain closed. Public Services will open Riverside Park, the boat landing and archery range when the water level has receded and the Park is functional and safe to use.  Please watch the City’s website for updates.

The Snow Ratio and Where Does It Go

Where do two feet of snow go in two weeks?

Our heavy spring snowfalls left us with a lot of water on the landscape and though dry now, that last storm took a while to dry up. It makes you wonder just how much water is actually in snow. There is a formula that can tell us, the snow ratio. See more…        If there are any questions, please contact [email protected]

HYDRANT FLUSHING

The City of Carver Public Services Department will begin its annual hydrant flushing April 24, 2018, and is expected to be completed by mid-May.  Hydrant flushing serves two purposes:

  • To ensure proper operation and to purge stagnant water and natural minerals that may be deposited in the distribution system; and
  • Hydrants identified as needing maintenance are repaired following the completion of flushing.

Residents are advised that the change in water flow patterns resulting from hydrant flushing may stir up mineral deposits in city water mains.   During hydrant flushing, it is not unusual for residents to periodically experience discolored water, pressure changes, and/or an increased chlorine odor.  Although safe for human consumption, if you experience discolored water, you may correct the problem by opening all cold water faucets and allow them to run at the same time until the water clears.  If you have any questions, contact [email protected]

SUSTAINABLE & NO-MOW LAWNS
