It’s beginning to feel a lot like Spring…well, NOT REALLY. The Public Services Department has been working hard to flood the ice rink to build a strong safe skating base for all the residents to enjoy. Unfortunately, with the unseasonably warmer temperatures, we have been unable to make additional ice, and what ice we were able to make has now melted away.
We are continuing to watch extended forecasts and colder temps are in the forecast (if they are correct), we hope to have ice for skating closer to New Years.
When we have cold enough temps, flooding consists of spraying many layers of water between 1/8” to 1/4” across the entire surface. Temperatures need to be in the mid to lower teens, and the colder it is, the better.
We know how much everyone would love to be out there skating and we will be continuing to try making ice when temperatures allow. In the meantime, get those skates sharpened and sticks taped and we will hopefully be skating soon enough.

wonder what if I couldn’t have my trash hauled away every week. What if I had to keep it? What would my home and yard look? Would I change the way I purchase and use items?
The City of Carver (population 4,628) is seeking a self-motivated individual, capable of growing into a supervisory position, in the area of utility operations for a growing community expected to reach a population of 10,000 by 2030. Essential functions of the position include managing, operating, and maintaining the municipal water infrastructure, wastewater, storm water, and flood protection activities.
Often, we think grass needs more water than it really does. The rule of thumb is that grass needs 1 inch of water a week. That inch can come from rain or a hose. During summer of 2017 there was only 1 period of time where we didn’t get sufficient rainfall to meet grass needs. This summer we are getting even more rain.
