When two communities — Chaska and Chanhassen high schools — come together, good things happen, on and off the field.

Many people thought this might be the year for Waconia, maybe even Young America, but Watertown, probably not.

John Straka figured his night was done. A pair of one-out hits in the ninth inning put the tying runs on base in a 3-1 game on Friday, Sept. 3, in the Class B winners bracket final in Hamburg.

Waconia felt right at home in front of a large Friday night crowd in Chaska, breaking open a third round game with Luxemburg with a five-run seventh inning in a 9-2 victory Sept. 3 at Athletic Park.
