On Saturday, October 21, at 10:30 in the Chaska library Jim Hammers will lead an interactive presentation of the varied Germanic backgrounds of Chaska’s citizenry.
He will lead those attending through a reflection of how our individual family histories were both affected by history but also we made history through of our participation in it. With the help of a handout each participant will develop an outline of pertinent events as they might pertain to their personal histories and to invite them to fill in the blanks through further study.
Mr. Hammers leads this discussion from a background of teaching German culture and language for over 40 years and from his personal family history as a descendant from the Dutch province of Limburg from which over 100 families immigrated to Chaska and Carver County.
