Before a multi-million dollar budget shortfall, large referendums, purchase card investigations or resignations, there was a lot less attention on the Shakopee school district’s spending habits.

For the first time in program history, Southwest Christian tennis earned a team point against Le Sueur-Henderson, losing a 6-1 decision Aug. 29 on the road.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, Goodwill Wholesale opens its doors at 312 Lake Hazeltine Drive in Chaska.

Chaska High School junior Mike Koster was among six Minnesota High School hockey stars representing the United States at the Five Nations tournament in the Czech Republic Aug. 23-27.

The Black Sox will face Union Hill in the Sweet Sixteen Game of the State Tournament on Saturday, September 2, at 1:30 p.m. in Green Isle.

The Carver Black Sox are part of the final 16 teams in the State Amateur Baseball Tournament, which started with 48 teams.  Pending Carver wins, the Black Sox will advance to the semifinals and quarterfinals, which are scheduled for Sunday, September 3, in Hamburg and Norwood.  The State Championship Game is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Monday, September 4, in Green Isle.

Allowing four goals in a season-opening loss to Minnetonka, including three in the second half, a better defensive effort was needed for a win in the boys soccer home opener Tuesday for Chaska.
